Following the success of BNS Real Estate’s smaller community solar farm on 136th St, the company decided to go bigger the second time around. With over 3,000 solar panels installed on the rooftop of their WB Mason Bronx Distribution Facility, this community solar farm marks the largest in New York City to date.
This project caught both the borough and state’s attention as it pushed forward a local green economy. In September 2018, the Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr., and community leaders came together at the BNS Commerce Community Solar Farm to show support for the New York Million Solar Strong Campaign, supporting the goal of powering one million New York households – including 100,000 low-income households – with solar energy by 2025.
