Prairie Ridge Solar

El Paso County, CO
In Development

Project Description

Prairie Ridge Solar, LLC (Prairie Ridge), a Delaware limited liability company and subsidiary of 174 Power Global, is developing the Prairie Ridge Solar Project (Project), a utility-scale solar energy generation facility and battery energy storage system (BESS) located in unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado. The Project area consists of approximately 3,650 acres, of which 2,210 acres are privately owned, and 1,440 acres are owned by the Colorado State Land Board.

While the final site design is in progress, the Project is anticipated to consist of a 400 megawatt (MW) alternating current solar facility and 200 MW/4hour BESS.

Permit Approval Process

A Wind/Solar Energy Overlay (WSEO) permit and a 1041 permit from El Paso County will be required prior to commencing construction of the Project. Prairie Ridge anticipates submitting permit applications by the end of this year.

As part of the approval process, El Paso County will hold public hearings in which members of the audience will get a chance to provide comments related to this Project. El Paso County will be sending notices with time and location of the hearings at the appropriate time.

Adjacent landowners and residents will also have the opportunity to provide public comments in writing to the El Paso County Planning and Community Development Department.
